 Karen Akiens
Karen Akiens received her JD and MBA in May 1997, her Master of Law in Tax (LLM) in May 1998 and her Estate Planning Certificate in January 1999 from Temple University School of Law and School of Business in Philadelphia. Karen is Board Certified in Probate and Estate Planning by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She practiced as an attorney in Philadelphia before moving to Houston in 1999. Karen received a license to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Texas. She limits her practice to the following areas: estate and gift tax, business planning and taxation, asset protection, and estate administration. From 1983 to 1987, Karen served in the US Navy as an air crewman and jet mechanic. She received an Honorable Discharge and a Cold War Recognition Certificate. Karen is married and has two children.
